Chair: Meridel Hedges - 830-0750
February 1st The Knotty Ladies held their February meeting and fabric swap at the home of Dora Moore. Several members brought left-over or donated fabrics to exchange. There should be numerous baby quilts in the making after this meeting. Meridel will contact Gayle Schanck to see if a list of the charitable organizations to which we have donated hand crafted items would be worthy of inclusion in the EPWC scrapbook that will be placed in the time capsule later this month. She will also check with Maxine to ensure that the list we drew up at the meeting is complete. Since the D-9 Dessert Auction is so close at hand, we decided to make up some table runners and coordinating napkins to donate to the next fund raiser. That will give us time do a better job on our projects. Lynn may make up a nursery basket with a baby quilt and some nursery accessories if she can complete it in time. Dora offered to make a table runner top if someone else is willing to back and quilt it for the next fund raiser. Quilts with dogs or cats may also be popular auction items. Members are asked to bring patterns for table runners to the March meeting. Meridel will scan and e-mail the pattern for the black and white star table runner that she shared. Dora, Marcia, and Lydia all shared quilts they are working on. The group gets more creative each time we meet. The next meeting will be held on March 7 at Marcia’s home. January 4th The January meeting was hosted by Randi. Members present included: Carol Kuehnert, Lydia Davidson, Dora Moore, Carol Kato, and Lynn Moore. Randi had each of us select a personal flavor of coffee to brew in her new Keurig coffee maker. We laughed when we asked her if she bought it with all the money sent to her when she was stranded in Spain (according to a bogus e-mail). Announcements: (1) Grandma Dee may someday offer quilting lessons in her studio. (2) Jeanette’s is going out of business. All fabric is 35% off thru March. Sharing: Lydia made two adorable projects from southwest theme fabric. One was a table runner with Christmas lights on cactus, the other was a wall hanging. Lynn showed her Brown and Cream sampler quilt. After Lynn had hand quilted all of the blocks she had Grandma Dee quilt the sashing in a lovely pattern. She also shared her beautiful hand knitted alpaca scarf. Randi showed us her lap quilt make from strip piecing. She explained that it was a quilt as you go project. She also shared a table runner she had made using the same method. Then she passed around three hand knitted hats that we all loved. Dora shared a silk tie, crazy quilted tool case that her sister, Sylvia, had given her for Christmas. It was made from their father’s ties and had gold machine embroidery top stitching.
December 7th The Knotty Ladies gathered at Maxine's house for a potluck luncheon and a Christmas gift exchange. We stayed away from business topics in favor of story swapping and feasting. We will meet at Randi's house on January 4, 2010.
